RIDEFINDERS WELCOMES ITS 1,000TH EMPLOYER
Centerre Healthcare in Clayton Joins as Work Begins on The New I-64 Project

GRANITE CITY, IL, March 26, 2007 . . . RideFinders, the St. Louis regional rideshare program, recently welcomed Centerre Healthcare as its 1000th participating employer. Centerre Healthcare’s participation not only marks a significant milestone in the program’s 13-year history, it also demonstrates the tremendous employer interest in RideFinders created by The New I-64 Project.

“RideFinders has seen a dramatic increase in employer participation as a result of the upcoming I-64 project, with nearly 150 employers joining the program so far in 2007,” said Joe Wright, director of RideFinders. “By participating in RideFinders at no cost, employers such as Centerre HealthCare can offer their employees a free commuting solution throughout the project.”

Created in 1994, RideFinders provides a free ridematching service to help commuters rideshare to work in carpools using their personal vehicles or in vanpools using vans provided by RideFinders. By sharing the ride, especially during the complete closure of I-64 in 2008 and 2009, commuters will lower their commuting costs, stress and time while reducing traffic congestion and air pollution for the entire region

RideFinders partners with over 1,000 participating employers in the region to provide free information on its ridematching service and incentives such as a free Guaranteed “taxi” Ride Home and $10 in free gas to encourage thousands of employees to rideshare. In return for their free participation in RideFinders, participating employers improve employee productivity, retention, recruitment and more.

Joining RideFinders is free and easy for employers. An employer representative, usually in the human resources department, contacts RideFinders at (800) VIP-RIDE to schedule a brief meeting at the worksite to learn about the program. During this meeting, the employer verbally joins the program – at no cost – and assigns an on-site RideFinders contact. Finally, RideFinders goes to work to promote the program to employees and assist with the minimal administration.

Located in the heart of downtown Clayton, Centerre Healthcare is one of the many employers that will be directly affected by the upcoming construction and proactively joined RideFinders. "Just coming in and leaving work, even without construction, it’s very busy,” says Kim Mormann, director of human resources. “We wanted a way for our employees to get to work without the stress caused by the construction.” .

Employers interested in joining the regional rideshare program can contact RideFinders at (800) VIP-RIDE or ridefinders@mct.org. For more information, visit www.ridefinders.org.

RideFinders, the St. Louis regional rideshare program, was created in 1994 to improve the quality of life and work in the St. Louis region by reducing traffic congestion and improving air quality. RideFinders fulfills its mission by providing a free ridematching service that helps commuters carpool or vanpool to work and teaming with over 1,000 employers to offer free ridesharing information and incentives to commuters at work. The program operates as free public service for commuters working in the region through federal grant funding from the United States Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration.
